    Why not simply freeze the three bureau files? Unlocking is simple and the $5 is in the noise. How often does one need to have credit pulled? Unless you buy a car every six months and switch cell phone carriers every three months one should not have to worry about unlocking the files. And it might even provide a bit of protection against impulse buying.
