Guardian Protection is a regional security company that provides security to thousands of homes, mostly in the eastern half of the US. Guardian has a lot to offer in terms of high-end equipment and technology but comes up short in customer service satisfaction. We’ll uncover some of the strengths and weaknesses that Guardian Protection brings to its customers—like the best price guarantee—to help you decide whether Guardian Protection is right for you.

Pros

  • 24/7 professional monitoring
  • Cellular technology
  • Home automation available
  • Fixed-rate guarantee with 60-month contract

Cons

  • Limited availability
  • Costly repair fees
  • High price tag
  • Poor online transparency

What makes Guardian Protection stand out?

Guardian Protection uses industry-leading Alarm.com technology and equipment, which means you know you’re getting a top-notch security system.

Using 100% cellular monitoring, your Guardian Protection system protects itself against outages caused by phone service or broadband interruptions. This means an intruder can’t cut the wire to your system to deactivate it. In fact, if your system is turned off for any reason, it will send a signal to the central monitoring station, which will then notify you of the interruption.

Guardian Protection also offers a best price guarantee, where it will match any written quote or qualified internet offer of a comparable base home security system. This is awesome if you’re shopping around and find a better price but prefer to go with Guardian Protection. It really shows that the company is willing to work with you to earn your business. Just keep in mind it’s for base-level options only.

Guardian Protection areas of service

Guardian Protection provides security services in several locations:

  • Austin, Texas
  • Baltimore, Maryland
  • Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

  • San Antonio, Texas
  • Tampa, Florida
  • Youngstown, Ohio

Guardian Protection also distributes its products and services through various dealers around the nation. These local partners are authorized by Guardian Protection to sell and install its products and services to consumers within the area. So, keep in mind that your experience may vary depending on where you live, which is most likely the reason for Guardian Protection’s inconsistent customer service ratings. You can take a look at this map to see all of Guardian Protection’s partners and whether any are available in your area.

What customers think of Guardian Protection

Reviews vary on Guardian Protection but the general consensus landed on a smooth sales process, great equipment, and quick response time to system triggers. That being said, many customers complained of difficult customer support scenarios, lack of up-front information, and a harsh cancellation policy. We suggest reading the contract thoroughly before signing an agreement.

Positive

I could not asked for a better sale manager and service tech. They were both Top quality. Surish, 8/31/2017, trustpilot.com

The sales representative that I spoke to was very friendly. Then the installers came out and we did the whole process then they hooked it up. Everything was in the wall by the time we moved in our brand-new home. Guardian has been very good so far. I had an incident where somebody came to my door and my daughter forgot the alarm was on. She opened the door, and they called me before she even disarmed it to let me know. That was pretty quick and I like that. I’d recommend them. Andrew, 5/30/2017, consumeraffairs.com

Negative

Guardian Protection Services is a sham. They do not disclose all the details on a contract (exorbitant early termination fees, automatic renewal, etc.) and then will not work with you on cancellations or disputes.I will NEVER do business with this company again, and will tell everyone in my subdivision and all my friends on social media about their dishonest and deceitful practices. L.S. 5/23/2016, bbb.org

I have been having a very bad experience with technical support lately. Technicians came 3 times within 1 week to fix the same issue. After they leave the issue remains. The next tech. fixes errors a previous tech. made and creates new ones that the next guy tries to fix. Customer support is unable to answer basic questions (placement of magnet for expl.) and suggest to schedule 4th appointment. It seems like this is a never ending process. Now I can not leave on vacation knowing the system doesn’t work properly. – Kat B., 7/22/2017, bbb.org

Do we recommend Guardian Protection?

With Alarm.com equipment and professional cellular monitoring, Guardian Protection easily competes with big-time national brands from an equipment and technology standpoint. But limited availability nationwide and a mixed customer service track record make recommending Guardian Protection to everyone a little more difficult. It’s great if you prioritize equipment and technology, and I like the idea of supporting a regional business, but the overall experience you get with Guardian Protection will vary. You’ll want to think about what’s important to you in a home security system before signing a long-term contract.
